NORFOLK - Mary Frances Wancheck Hofford, 72, of the 5400 block of Beckner St., 
died March 26, 1988, in a hospital.
Mrs. Hofford, a native of Hellam, Pa., was the widow of Donald Everett Hofford. 
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a Marine Corps 
veteran of World War II and the Korean War and Fleet Reserve Association Post 60.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Roger A. Hofford of Lynchburg and Michael J. 
Hofford of Norfolk; two sisters, Anne Grefenstette of Burke, Va., and Dorothy 
Dudas of Canonsburg, Pa.; three brothers, Michael Wancheck of Cleveland, Joseph 
Wancheck of Takoma Park, Md., and George Wancheck of Pittsburgh; and a grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith & Williams Funeral 
Home, Norfolk Chapel. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery. The family will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home and also 
will be at 5444 Beckner St. Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King 
Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
