He was preceded in death by his parents, George Emmett Hogan and Mary Clark Hogan; his sisters, Clark Hogan Brown and Elizabeth Hogan Ellis; and his brother, Joseph Clark Hogan. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dobie Driver Hogan. He is also survived by a daughter, Molly Hogan of Norfolk and a son, G. Emmett Hogan III and his wife Carol; two grandchildren, Baylor Elizabeth Hogan and Alexandra Louise Hogan, all of Rocklin, Calif.; also, a nephew Kelly Hogan of North Carolina. Mr. Hogan was a graduate of Maury High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was educated at the University of Virginia where he graduated with a B.S. in economics. His banking career began at Seaboard Citizens National Bank in Norfolk. He was an executive vice president when Seaboard joined United Virginia Bankshares before becoming Crestar Bank. He retired from Crestar, now Suntrust Bank. His civic work included serving on the Budget Committee of the South Hampton Roads United Way. He is a former member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club and the Princess Anne Country Club. He and his wife lived in Virginia Beach for 52 years before returning to Norfolk. His memorial service will be held graveside at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk on Thursday, April 22, at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements will be handled by H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel.
