Funeral services at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery. GEORGE HOGAN, COTTON DEALER, DIES; LONG ILL FUNERAL TO BE CONDUCTED TOMORROW MORNING AT SACRED HEART CHURCH George Hogan, aged 87, for many years a substantial cotton merchant in the city, died yesterday morning at 10:30 o'clock at his residence, 535 Washington Park, after about a year of declining health. He was born in Kilkenny County, Ireland, the son of the late Thomas and Judith Doheny Hogan and came to Norfolk 61 years ago to make his home, after living about a year in New York City. Mr. Hogan was actively engaged in the cotton business here for 58 years. He established the cotton merchandising firm of George Hogan & Co., of which he was senior member, in 1901, and operated it until his retirement about five years ago. He was a former member of both the New York Cotton Exchange and the Norfolk Cotton Exchange. ACTIVE IN CHURCH He was a charter member of Norfolk Council, 367 Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart Church, where he worshipped and was known for his Christian spirit. Besides his wife, Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Newstead Hogan, he is survived by three sons, Hunter A. Hogan and G. Emmett Hogan, both of Norfolk, and Thomas J. Hogan, of Melbourne, Australia; two daughters, MissPamela C. Hogan and Mrs. Frances N. Doughty, of Norfolk; three brothers, Stephen Hogan, of Augusta, Ga., John Hogan and Thomas Hogan, of New York City, and nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Rosary services for Mr. Hogan will be conducted tonight at 7:30 o'clock at the residence, by members of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. The funeral will be conducted tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church by Father Leo J. Ryan, pastor of Blessed Sacrament Church, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. GEORGE HOGAN - Funeral services for Mr. Hogan, whose death occurred Monday morning at the residence, 535 Washington Park, were held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church this morning at 10 o'clock. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rev. Leo J. Ryan officiated. The Rev. E. P. Kilgalen, Rev. A. J. Taylor, Rev. K. B. Kealey, Rev. M. J. Harrison, Rev. E. A. Brosnan, Rev. P. P. Brennan, Rev. Martin Quinn and Rev T. P. Scannell were present in the sanctuary. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with clusters of Easter lilies, calla lilies, pink roses and ferns. Several selections were rendered on the organ during the service by Prof. J. Harvey Stevens. A delegation from the Norfolk-Portsmouth Cotton Association was in attendance. Services at the grave were conducted by the Rev. E. P. Kilgalen. Family connections of Mr. Hogan served as pallbearers.
