Norfolk Virginian Pilot May 22, 1950
Mrs. Ellen Bell Hoggard, 66, widow of Hugh Page Hoggard and daughter of Norman 
and Mrs. Ellen Herbert Bell, died at a Norfolk hospital yesterday at 9:40 a.m.  
Mrs. Hoggard, a lifelong resident of Norfolk, resided at 708 Stockley Gardens at 
the time of her death.
She is survived by one son, Hugh Page Hoggard, Jr., of Hampton; one daughter, 
Mrs. Edward L. Ryan, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph S. String and Mrs. John Y.S. 
Mitchell, Jr.; a brother, Alex H. Bell, all of Norfolk and four grandchildren.
The body will be taken from the H.D Oliver Funeral Apartments to St. Paul's 
Episcopal Church, of which Mrs. Hoggard was a member, for services tomorrow at 
noon, with the Rev. Moultrie Guerry, the rector, officiating.  Burial will be in 
Cedar Grove Cemetery.
