Norfolk Virginian Pilot December 18, 1946

Mrs. Emma Etheredge Hoggard, widow of Thomas J. Hoggard and daughter of the late 
Samuel and Mrs. Margaret S. Etheredge, died Monday at midnight at her home in 
Princess Anne County.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Councill, Sr., of Norfolk and Mrs. T.J. 
Pierce, of Princess Anne County; two grandchildren, Mrs. Carl D. Miller and J.C. 
Councill, Jr., both of Norfolk; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence today at 2 p.m. by the Rev. 
Taylor Willis, D.D. rector of Christ and St. Luke's Church, of which Mrs. 
Hoggard was a member.  Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
