Virginian-Pilot  January 15 & 17, 1935
JOHN JOSEPH HOLAHAN, aged 52 years, husband of Katherine Cummings Holahan and son 
of the late James and Mary Kiernan Holahan, died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock 
at the residence, 751 West Fifty-first Street.  Mr. Holahan was a native and 
lifelong resident of Norfolk and for the past 25 years, had been connected with 
the Electrical Department of the City of Norfolk as inspector.  Besides his wife, 
Mrs. Katherine Cummings Holahan, he is survived by two sons, John Joseph, Jr., and 
Thomas V. Holahan, all of Norfolk.  Remains will be taken from H. D. Oliver's 
Funeral Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street, to Blessed Sacrament Catholic 
Church, of which Mr. Holahan was a member, for services tomorrow morning at 10 
o'clock.  Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

FUNERALS

JOHN JOSEPH HOLAHAN - Funeral services for Mr. Holahan, whose death occurred 
Monday at the residence, 791 West Fifty-first Street, were held at 10 o'clock 
yesterday morning at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Leo J. Ryan, 
the pastor, officiating.  There was a large attendance and many floral offerings.  
The casket was covered with a pall of pink and white carnations, roses and ferns.  
During the service, Mrs. F. R. McLaughlin sang, "Lead Kindly Light," with Mrs. C. 
R. Davies as accompanist.  Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Pallbearers were John R. Skinner, Emmett Hogan, Dan L. Kiley, C. V. Bulls, L. S. 
Duncan, H. L. Goodloe, W. J. Walsh and Dr. Emmett J. Lawler.  At the conclusion of 
the mass, Father Ryan paid tribute to the Christian life and character of the 
deceased.
