The deceased had been to Washington attending the wedding of his niece Saturday night and was on his way back to Norfolk when he stopped to make a telephone call about eight miles from Fredericksburg on Route 1. After making the call he started to cross the highway on foot and was struck by a passing car. Holland was a lifelong resident of Norfolk and was employed as a timekeeper by Old Dominion Stevedoring Corporation. He was a member of the Park Place Baptist Church. He was the son of Mrs. Ellen Baylor Holland and the late Charles Edward Holland. Besides his mother, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. F.A. Miles, of Washington; a niece, Mrs. Robert S. Hollingshead, of Washington; an aunt, Mrs. Luther Whitson, of Portsmouth, and two uncles, Dr. W.H. Baylor, of Baltimore, and C.M. Baylor of Norfolk. Funeral services will be held at the Ewell and Williamson Funeral Home tomorrow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
