Virginian-Pilot  March 8, 1960
NORFOLK – Mrs. Mary Jane Downing Holland, 77, widow of Michael J. Holland, and 
daughter of the late Capt. Thomas T. and Mrs. Sarah Richardson Downing, a native 
of Jersey City, N.C., and a resident of Norfolk for 70 years, died Monday at 1:30 
p.m., at the residence, 4410 Newport Ave., after a long illness.
Mrs. Holland was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, of the Sodality of 
the Blessed Virgin, and the Christ Child Circle.
Surviving her is one sister, Miss Katherine L. Downing, of Norfolk.
A rosary service will be held at the residence, today at 8 p.m. A funeral service 
will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
