Norfolk Virginian Pilot February 26, 1944

Mrs. Mary V. Searls Holland, wife of James T. Holland and daughter of the late 
George and Mrs. Annie Kavanaugh Searls, a native and lifelong resident of 
Norfolk, died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday at a local hospital. Besides her husband, 
she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Holland was a member of 
St. Mary's Catholic Church. The body will be taken from the residence, 738 East 
Twenty-seventh Street, to St. Mary's Catholic Church for funeral services Monday 
at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary services will be 
held at the residence Sunday at 8 p.m.

Mrs. Mary V. Searls Holland – The body of Mrs. Holland, wife of James T. 
Holland, who died Friday, will be taken from the residence, 738 East Twenty-
seventh street, to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, for funeral services Monday at 10 
a.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Rosary services will be held at 
the residence tonight at 8 o’clock.
