Dwight Holland Sr., 84, of 1541 Chesapeake Ave., a lifelong resident of Virginia, died Saturday in his home. He was the husband of Lucy Hanbury Holland. He had retired from Southwestern Life Insurance Co. and was a member of South Norfolk Baptist Church and its Welcome Bible Class. He also was a member of the Chesapeake First Senior Citizens Club. Other survivors include a son, Richard D. Holland Jr. of Chesapeake; four sisters, Irma V. Holland and Amy Chappell, both of Elizabeth City, Hazel V. Holland of Windsor, and Inez H. Munford of Smithfield; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in South Norfolk Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Hughes Jr. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park, with Graham Funeral Home in charge. The family will be at his home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Monday. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart Fund or the Cancer Society.
