Funeral services were held March 29 at Mount Gilead Baptist Church for Miss 
Vera Holley of 976 H avenue. Miss Holley, 63, died March 25 in a Norfolk 
hospital following a short illness. The Rev. John B. Gray officated at the 
rites.

A native of Chowan County, NC, Miss Holley was a member of Mount Gilead and 
served on the deaconess board and missionary circle.

She is survived by four sisters, Misses Willie Mae Hicks of New York, 
Elizabeth Holley, Annie Bell Atkins and Mrs. Mae Helen Johnson, all of 
Norfolk; and six brothers, James Holley of Cleveland Ohio, Willie, 
Armstrong, Wallace, Herman and Gilbert Holley, all of Norfolk.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with E. A. Hughes Funeral Home in charge of 
arrangements.
