He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 1, 1922, to the late August and Josephine Holman. Mr. Holman proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a parishioner at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Rainbows. Mr. Holman was a shy, yet friendly man who brought joy to those he met. Mr. Holman was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Mary G. Holman; and brothers, Raymond, George and Hugh Holman. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Frank M. Holman and wife Debra; sister, Ellen Kenney; and grandchildren, Matthew Sean and Mariah Susan Holman, who were truly the light of his life. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, celebrated by Father James E. Parke with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
