Norfolk Virginian November 29, 1894

Mrs. Emma J. Holmes, wife of Mr. E.J. Holmes, died at the residence of her 
husband, No. 11 Clay street, yesterday morning at 7:30 o'clock, aged 35 
years.  The funeral will take place at 3 o'clock this afternoon from St. 
Luke's Episcopal Church.  The deceased was a lady of a most lovable 
character and her loss will be sadly mourned.

The funeral of Mrs. Emma J. Holmes, wife of Mr. E.J. Holmes, took place 
yesterday afternoon from St. Luke's Episcopal Church, the services being 
conducted by the rector, Rev. A.S. Lloyd, and was largely attended.  The 
interment was in Elmwood Cemetery.
