Norfolk - Final rites for Herman P. Holmes of 852 Memphis street, who died Dec. 
9 in a hospital, were conducted Sunday in Graves Funeral Chapel by the Rev. R. 
A. Council.  Burial was in Calvary Cemetery.

The North Carolina native was a son of Alfred and Mrs. Emmaline Holmes and the 
husband of Mrs. Beatrice Holmes.  He was an employee of Norfolk General 
Hospital.

Also surviving are two sons, Herman P. Holmes Jr. of Burlington, NC, and Floyd 
Holmes of Trinity, NC;  a stepdaughter, Mrs. Geneva Alton of Buffalo, NY;  and 
four sisters, Miss Ida Holmes, Miss Mary Holmes, Mrs. Jessie Miller and Mrs. 
Essie Johnson of Thomasville, NC
