Virginian-Pilot  October 25, 1898
Mr. Henry O. Holmes was found dead in his room at the residence, Chapel and 
Faulkland streets Sunday, and he is supposed to have died Saturday afternoon, as 
he had not been seen since that time. He was found on the bed, but was not 
entirely disrobed, and is supposed to have died from apoplexy. He was 62 years of 
age and unmarried. The funeral took place from St. Mary’s Catholic Church 
yesterday afternoon at 3 o’clock, and was conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Father 
John Doherty. The interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
