Virginian-Pilot  July 17, 1926
Miss Lelia Bernadine Holmes, daughter of the late John and Sarah Ferris Holmes, 
died yesterday morning at 4 o’clock at a local hospital. She was a native of 
Norfolk and made her residence at 715 Redgate avenue. She is survived by a sister, 
Miss Adelaide Holmes; three brothers, A. F. Holmes, R. F. Holmes and M. M. Holmes, 
and a number of nieces and nephews, all of Norfolk. The body will be taken from 
the funeral apartments of H. D. Oliver, 610-12 East Freemason street, to the 
Sacred Heart Catholic Church for funeral services Monday morning at 10 o’clock. 
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
