Mr. Holmes was a retired druggist, a native and well-known lifelong resident of Norfolk. He is survived by two brothers, Alfred and William Holmes, and one sister, Miss Adelaide Holmes, all of Norfolk. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Robert Francis Holmes - Funeral services for Mr. Holmes, whose death occurred Friday at the residence, 715 Redgate avenue, were held at 10 o’clock yesterday morning at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. James Widmer officiating. Monsignor Thomas E. Waters was present. There was a large attendance and many floral offerings. The casket was covered with clusters of roses, lilies, carnations and ferns. During the service, Mrs. S. A. Sutton sang, “Face to Face,” with J. Harvey Stevens as accompanist. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. N. Everett, George E. Holmes, W. Henry Jordan, C. S. Whitehurst, Arthur G. Fulford and George R. Whitehurst.
