Mrs. Sarah A. Holmes, widow of John Holmes, died at her residence, 320 Hamilton 
avenue, yesterday morning, in the ninety-second year of her age. Mrs. Holmes was 
born in this section and had resided in Norfolk eighty years, where she was widely 
known and universally esteemed for her many lovely traits of character. She is 
survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ellen E. Fitzgerald, Misses Adelaide and Lelie 
Holmes; three sons, Alfred F., Robert F. and William M. Holmes; five grandchildren 
and nine great-grandchildren, all of Norfolk. The funeral will be held at the 
Sacred Heart Catholic church at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, and will be conducted by Rev. 
A. J. Halblieb. The interment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.
