Mr. William Marshall Holmes, 84, husband of Mrs. Pauline Taylor Holmes, and 
son of the late John and Mrs. Sarah Farris Holmes, died at 10 o’clock last 
night at a local hospital. Mr. Holmes, a native and life-long resident of 
Norfolk, resided at 1225 Magnolia Avenue, Larchmont.
He is survived by one son, George E. Holmes, of Norfolk, three daughters, Mrs. 
W. Henry Jordan, of Norfolk, Mrs. R.E. Moreland, of Vallejo, Calif., and Mrs. 
Frances H. Watts, of Washington, D.C., five grand-children, Miss Margaret 
Moreland, of Vallejo, Calif., Mrs. Arthur Gray Fulford, Mrs. Frank M. Craig, 
and Mrs. E.C. Oldfield, Jr., all of Norfolk, and Holt Fairfield Butts Watts, 
Jr., of Washington, D.C., and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, 
1501 Colonial Avenue, Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Interment will be in St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.

10 o’clock p.m., William Marshall, husband of Mrs. Pauline Taylor Holmes and 
son of the late John and Mrs. Sarah Farris Holmes, in the 85th year of his 
age. Services at the chapel of the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, No. 1501 
Colonial Avenue, Friday afternoon, at 2 o’clock. Friends and family are 
invited to attend. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
