Lambert, 1621 Lovitt Avenue, yesterday at 6:50 p.m. He is survived by a son, J.L. Holmes, of Crewe; a daughter, Mrs. E.E. Lambert, of Norfolk; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Holmes was a Confederate veteran and a native of Princess Anne County. He had made his home in Norfolk for the past 60 years. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Church, of which Mr. Holmes was a member, tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock, with the Rev. Norman E. Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. ***************************************************** James Holmes - Funeral services for Mr. Holmes, whose death occurred Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock at the residence of his son-in-law, E.E. Lambert, 1621 Lovitt Avenue, will be conducted at 3 o'clock this afternoon at St. Peter's Church, the rector, the Rev. Norman E. Taylor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Mr. Holmes was a Confederate veteran and a member of Lodge No. 56, Knights of Pythias. Norman E. Taylor officiating. Members of Brambleton Lodge No. 56, K. of P. attended in a body. During the services, a solo, "Asleep in Jesus," was sung by Mrs. Will Hayes with Mrs. Grace Williams at the organ. The pallbearers were W.C. Hayes, J.B. Harris, C.H. Brockenborough, E.P. White, J.P. Hampshire, E.T. Thomas, J.E. Clubb and W.H. Cox. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
