 Norfolk - Paul deCourcy Holt Jr., 69, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014, 
in a local hospital. He was a surveyor with Waterway Surveys and Engineering, 
LTD. Born in Norfolk, he was the son of the late Virginia Forbes Holt and Paul 
deC. Holt, Sr., and was the widower of Carol Paulette Holt. Paul was a 1962 
graduate of Maury High School and was a member of the Norfolk Kiwanis Club and 
First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. Paul was dedicated to his professional 
career as a land surveyor. He held a Land Surveyor B License in the Commonwealth 
of Virginia. Since 2010, Paul was also on Virginia's Department of Professional 
and Occupational Regulation's (DPOR) Board of Architects, Professional 
Engineers, Land Surveyors, Certified Interior Designers and Landscape Architects 
(APELSCIDLA Board). Paul was also licensed in the State of North Carolina. Left 
to cherish his memory is his daughter, Catherine E. Gargano and her husband, 
Victor, of Norfolk; a son, Paul deC. Holt III and his wife, Carol, of 
Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Charles Holt of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren; 
and his mother-in-law, Margaret Paulette of Norfolk. A memorial service will be 
conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk 
with Reverends Valena Hoy and Jim Gates officiating. A reception will follow in 
the church social hall. Burial will be private in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of 
flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Edmarc Hospice for Children, 516 
London Street, Portsmouth, Va. 23704. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel 
is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be offered through
