Blake Road, the husband of Mrs. Theresa K. Hooper, died Monday in a hospital. A native of McAdenville, N.C., he lived here since 1941. He was retired from the Navy and was a veteran of World Wars I and II. He was a member of Fleet Reserve Association 60 and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Besides his widow, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Douglas E. Ziegelbein of Virginia Beach; a son, James R. Hooper Jr., of Norfolk; four sisters, Mrs. Mary H. Rogers and Mrs. Lynis H. Young of Lexington, N.C., Mrs. Francis N. Clayton of Tarboro, N.C., and Mrs. Margaret H. Connaughton of Southport, N.C.; and five grandchildren. A Christian Wake service will be said tonight at 7:30 in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, Newport Avenue. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
