A gloom was cast over the entire community. At Monumental M. E. Church, the announcement was made by Mr. Howell to a large audience and created a profound impression. Captain Hope had many friends in this city as well as admirers, who deeply regret his sudden death. THE FUNERAL TODAY The funeral of Captain Hope will take place this afternoon at 4 o'clock from St. Paul's P. E. Church and the service will be conducted by the Rev. Beverley D. Tucker, who telegraphed from Charlestown, W. Va., where he was with his family, that he would arrive in the city this morning to conduct them.
