NORFOLK - A funeral service for Mrs. Helen Virginia Macdonald Hopkins, 54, of 
417 Birmingham Ave., will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Elmwood Cemetery by 
the Rev. Richard O. Bridgford. H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments has charge. The 
family, which will be at 5717 Arvida Court, Lake Edward West, Virginia Beach, 
asks that memorial donations be sent to the Eastern Virginia Medical School.
A native of Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Dr. C. D. J. Macdonald, 
former medical examiner of Norfolk, and the late Mrs. Rose Brew Macdonald. Other 
survivors include her husband, Samuel Hopkins Jr.; two daughters, Margaret 
Landon Porter of Norfolk and Mrs. Brew Porter Pearson of Richmond; two sons, 
Claude Macdonald Porter of Ger many and Robert H. Porter III of Norfolk; and a 
grandchild.
