Horner, the father a lawyer of the town, accidentally shot herself through the heart yesterday morning about 11:45 o'clock at their home on Berkley avenue, while handling her father's pistol, which she found lying on a bureau in one of the rooms upstairs. The father, who was at his desk writing, downstairs, heard the report of the pistol and his little girl scream and ran upstairs and saw her coming with her hands pressed tightly over her heart. She removed them and extended her hands to him, but fell dead before he reached her. A report went out that the little one committed suicide, but there is no foundation for this report. The tragedy has cast a deep gloom over the community as the little girl was known and loved by many. Her parents are prostrated with grief. The funeral arrangements have not been made yet. *************************************************************** The funeral services over the remains of little May Horner, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Horner, whose untimely death was published in yesterday's Virginian -Pilot, will be conducted from the St. Thomas' Episcopal Church this afternoon at 3 o'clock by the rector, Rev. C.M. Conant. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
