Church. He was active in this church where he served for a time as secretary of the trustee board. The eulogy was delivered by Dr. R. A. Councill. He used for his text Job 14:14 “If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait till my change come.” Dr. Councill said this was a natural type of expression for Job because of his condition. He said “change is often an unwelcome thing.” He added that Christians should not fear death because Christ has made it possible to conquer death. The minister pointed out that death often comes in the midst of labor. It is often a sudden change, he said, as was the case with the deceased. Death is final with some, Dr. Councill said, but it is different with the Christians, he added. The Rt. Rev. J. D. Cauthen, bishop of the AMEZ Church and former pastor at Metropolitan, read the Scripture. The Rev. H. T. Myers, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist church, Lindenwood, offered prayer. Mr. Hoskins, a World War I veteran, was buried with military honors in Calvary Cemetery. Out-of-town persons attending the funeral were the Rev. Stanley Hines, Port Washington, L.I.
