Virginian Pilot March 21, 1911
Alexander B. Howard, a well-known and esteemed citizen, died yesterday afternoon 
at 3:40 o'clock at the family residence, 204 Chestnut street, after an illness of 
two years.
Mr. Howard was a native of New Bern, N.C., but had been a resident of Berkley for 
a great many years.  He was in the 59th year of his age and is survived by a widow 
and two children, Mrs.Bertha Iverson and Laban Howard.  The deceased was a son of 
the late Laban and Mary Howard of North Carolina.
The funeral will be conducted from the residence this afternoon at 4 o'clock, and 
the interment will be in Magnolia cemetery.
