Howard of 2525 Jamaica Ave. died Thursday at 6 a.m. in Kecoughtan Veterans Hospital, Hampton, after a long illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Etta Howard. A native of Windsor, N.C., he was a son of Mrs. Effie Howard Craig and the late Robert Cooper Howard. He was a disabled Army veteran and lived in Kecoughtan 12 years. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are three sons, Johnnie M. Howard, James D. Howard, and Richard C. Howard of Norfolk; three daughters, Miss Ruth N. Howard and Miss Mamie C. Howard of Boston and Miss Ruby P. Howard of Norfolk; three brothers, Leroy Craig, Clinton Craig, and Willie Craig of Norfolk; six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Reid, Mrs. Marie Smith, Mrs. Mary Daniels, and Miss Emma Craig of Philadelphia and Mrs. Bettie Snowden and Mrs. Neva Rhinehart of Norfolk; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Riddick Funeral Chapel by elder J.L. Kearney. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
