Howard, who was paralyzed on his entire right side at his home on the corner of Highland and Reservoir Avenues about 8:30 o'clock Saturday night, died at 7 o'clock yesterday morning. He was born in Calcutta, India, of British parents, but came to this city about thirty years ago at the early age of 17 years. Soon after reaching his majority he married Miss Jakeman, who, with five children, survive him. On his first arrival in Norfolk he entered the employ of Wm. Lamb & Co., but later on, in the seventies, went to Chicago. On his return to Norfolk he accepted a position with the Baltimore Steam Packet Company, but afterwards went with the Norfolk and Western railway as its agent at Norfolk. Later on he was appointed by Messrs. Wm. Lamb & Co., agents for Castner and Curran, of Philadelphia, as chief clerk of their business, with headquarters at Lambert's Point. For seven years he managed the affairs of the company there with decided ability. Col. Lamb speaks in high commendation of him and says that during an experience of forty-one years in employing men he has never found one more conscientious, industrious and faithful than the deceased. The flags on the shipping in the harbor were at half-mast in respect to his memory. The funeral will take place from Trinity M.E. Church at 11 o'clock this morning.
