Howard, 47, of 869 W. 35th street, died Sept. 7 in Hampton Veterans Hospital after a short illness. A native of Daytona Beach, Fl, he was a son of Mrs. Mae Howard. He was a butcher for Nesson and Rappaport Co., and was an Army veteran of World War II. Besides his widow and mother, surviving are a son, Calvin E. Howard; and a daughter, Miss Darlena Howard, both of Norfolk; three brothers, Frederick Howard, Marquis Howard, and Eustus Howard of Boston; four sisters, Mrs. Addie Sermon and Mrs. Theresa Dinkins of Daytona Beach, Mrs. Helen Brown of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Edna Coles of Boston; and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 12, at 1 p.m. in Graves Funeral Home by the Rev. J. L. Kearney. Burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery.
