A native of Weldon, N.C., he was the son of James T. and Fannie Daughtry Howard and the widower of Nannie Barnard Howard, and lived here most of his life. During World War I, he conducted a machine shop in Norfolk, and afterward he and J.S. Etheridge engaged in the manufacture of ice at the Crystal Ice Plant on East Indian River Road. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Ella Rudd, Mrs. Grace H. Sykes, Mrs. Joel Wood and Mrs. Susie H. Thomas, and two grandchildren, all of Norfolk. He was a member of Berkley Lodge 167, A.F. and A.M., and of the First Christian Church Berkley. Funeral services will be held at the residence tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
