A native of Perquimans County, N.C., she lived in Hickory for the last 75 years. She was the widow of Jesse Bell Howell and a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Mrs. Penny Wright White. She was the oldest member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph Smithson of Hickory. A funeral service will be conducted today at 3 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, South Norfolk, by the Rev. Paul C. Lawson of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church and the Rev. W. R. Loving, former pastor of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
