J. D. Howell — Funeral services for Mr. Howell, who died Sunday afternoon at a Norfolk hospital, will be conducted this afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Gregory Funeral Home, 3401 Granby street, with the Rev. Fred Bobbitt, pastor of Park Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Howell was born in Norfolk County, near Fentress. He came to Norfolk as a young man, and was ordained in the Baptist ministry October 27, 1890, in the First Baptist Church, then situated on Cumberland street. His work in the ministry was chiefly in mission and supply work. He organized and was pastor of the Little Creek Baptist Church, which was destroyed by fire some years ago. Mr. Howell is survived by a son, J. D. Howell, Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. S. N. Hough, Mrs. B. F. Robinson, of Syringa, and Mrs. W. A. Jenkins, of Portlock; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
