Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Tuesday, August 31, 1993 
Charlie B. Howell of the 3900 block of Gosnold Ave., a retired stockman, died
Aug. 29, 1993, in Hillhaven Convalescent Center.

Mr. Howell was born in Hamilton, N.C., the son of the late Alemta and Frank
Howell. He was retired from the Naval Supply Center after 32 years of service.
He was a member of Smyrna Church of Christ Holy Disciples, 741 Marshall Ave.;
the Deacon Board; Trustee Board; past president of the Senior Choir; Pro.
Founder of the Male Chorus; past master and past secretary of Masonic Lodge
Excelsior (NU)87; member of Heritage Lodge (NU)50 B.P.R. Reindeer, and past
grand director; and former member of Arabia Temple (NU)12 and Alpha & Omega (NU)9.

Survivors include his wife, Edna V. Howell; one son, Eric C. Howell of Norfolk;
and two sisters, Bertha Beaman and Anna Spruiell, both of New York City.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Smyrna Church of Christ Holy
Disciples by the Rev. James Cherry. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . The
body will be placed in church at 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will assemble at
his residence. Hale Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
