Virginian-Pilot,July 14, 2003 
NORFOLK - Lottie Howell, 97, of Lake Charles, La., died at 12:31 a.m. on 
Saturday, July 12, 2003 in her residence.

Mrs. Howell was a native of Norfolk and had lived there all her life before 
moving to Lake Charles seven years ago. She was a graduate of Granby High 
School. Mrs. Howell was a member of Coleman Place Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one niece, Shirley Bigelow of Lake Charles; two great-
nephews, Pete Valenzuela and wife Bonnie of Lake Charles, and Michael Bigelow 
of Fayetteville, N.C.; one great-great-niece, Kristie Valenzuela of Shreveport, 
La.; and one great- great-nephew, Steven Valenzuela of Las Vegas.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery by the 
Rev. Debra McAllister. The family will receive friends at Smith & Williams 
Funeral Home, Norview Chapel, from 2 to 6 p.m. today.
