Virginian-Pilot  March 3, 1914
Mrs. Mary Ellen Hoy, wife of John O. Hoy, died at 6:15 o’clock yesterday morning 
at the family residence, 812 Cooke avenue. She was 59 years old. Mrs. Hoy was a 
native of South Carolina, but had resided in Norfolk practically all her life. 
Mrs. Hoy is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Ferries and Mrs. 
M. T. Blassingham and two sons, John W. and James H. Hoy, eleven grandchildren, a 
sister, Miss Katie Corbett and a brother, John Corbett, all of Norfolk.
The funeral will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic church at 10 o’clock Wednesday 
morning. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.
