Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark May 25, 1934

John O. Hoy, a native of Elizabeth City, N.C., and for more than sixty years a 
well known resident of Norfolk, died at his residence, 1531 East Ocean View 
Avenue, Ocean View, yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Mr. Hoy was the son of 
the late John W. and Melissa Hooker Hoy. He was a member of the Loyal Order of 
Moose. Besides his wife, Mrs. Medora E. Hoy, he is survived by two daughters, 
Mrs. Joseph Ferris and Mrs. M.T. Blassingham; two sons, John W. and James H. 
Hoy; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church tomorrow morning at 
10 o'clock. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Thursday, May 24, 1934, at 3:30 o’clock p.m., JOHN O., husband of Medora E. Hoy 
and son of the late John W. and Melissa Hooker Hoy.
Funeral services at St. Mary’s Catholic Church SATURDAY MORNING at 10 o’clock. 
Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. Mary’s Cemetery.
