Alonzo Lee Hudgins, 90, retired tugboat skipper of 1625 Jackson St., died yesterday at 5:30 a.m. in a Norfolk hospital after a two- year illness. A native of Mathews County, he had lived in this section the last 70 years. Before his retirement some years ago, he had captained tugs for the Curtis Bay Towing Co. and for its predecessor, the Wood Towing Co. He was well known along the water front, both in Norfolk and in Gloucester and Mathews. He was a son of Thomas H. and Mrs. Elizabeth Callis Hudgins, and husband of the late Mrs. Alethia Everett Hudgins. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Mary Lee Humphries of South Norfolk; one brother, John Hudgins, and one sister, Mrs. Geneva Hudgins, both of Mathews County, and one granddaughter, Miss Marie V. Humphries of South Norfolk. The body was removed to the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
