Hudgins, known to every child in Ghent as "Captain Johnny," died this morning at 3:50 o'clock after an illness extending over a period of 10 months at his home, 510 Fort street. He had been a member of the police department since November 19, 1908, and is survived by three sons, John L., Herbert F. and Allie B., the latter a member of the motorcycle division of the police department. For a number of years Mr. Hudgins served as custodian and guardian of the little park in Stockley Gardens and came to know practically every child in the section. He was dearly loved by all who came in contact with him and leaves behind a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock from Sacred Heart Catholic church.
