He resided at 1802 Granby St. A lifelong resident of Norfolk, he was one of the oldest electrical contractors in Tidewater Virginia. The son of William J. and Mrs. Maggie Brown Hudgins, he was the widower of Mrs. Stella Carter Hudgins. A graduate of the Bliss Institute of Electrical Engineering, New York, he entered the electrical field through apprenticeship with John W. Smith and the Atlantic Electric Co. He represented the Harry Alexander Co. of New York and Washington as civilian engineer in charge of the Norfolk field office during World War I. Reorganized Firm In 1918, he joined the William A. Burkhard Co., which later was reorganized as the Old Dominion Electric Co., with Charles Sorrell and the late Edgar Henderson as partners. During this period, he reorganized the company and became president and treasurer, posts he retained at his death. He also had the Food Equipment Parts Service Co., representing the nation's largest food equipment manufacturers. He distributed replacement parts on the East Coast. He was a member of the Methodist Church, of Elizabeth Lodge 34, A.F. & A.M., Norfolk Lodge 31, B.P.O. Elks, John Watters Royal Arch Chapter, the National Electrical Contractors Assn., and the Builders and Contractors Exchange. He also was a charter member of the Cosmopolitan Club and a charter member of Local 80, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Margaret H. Johnson of Hampton; two sons, Jackson G. Hudgins and Franklin M. Hudgins, both of Norfolk; one sister, Mrs. Lucy H. Cox, also of Norfolk; three grandsons, Richard C. Hudgins of Norfolk; Walter B. Johnson Jr., USA, and Leigh H. Johnson of Hampton, and nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell and Williamson Funeral Home Friday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. Beverly Tucker White, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mrs. Lucy H.
