A native of Rock Hill, S.C., she was the wife of A. Herman Hudgins. Her late father, Rear Adm. Edward R. Stitt, was a surgeon general of the Navy. She graduated from Gunston Hall, Washington, and studied art at Corcoran Gallery, Washington. She studied art in Norfolk under Miss Glenna Lattimer and was a former president of the Norfolk Art League. Her paintings were exhibited in the 1962 Virginia Beach Art Show. She was a member of Eastern Shore (Episcopal) Chapel, Princess Ann Garden Club and Army and Navy Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. During World War II, she was a Gray Lady at Fr. Story. In her earlier years, she was an expert golfer and she played in several bridge championship matches. Besides her husband, surviving are a brother, Edward W. Stitt of Trenton, N.J.; a sister, Mrs. Warren L. Stephenson of Washington; and three nephews. A funeral service will be held Friday at noon in H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the General Hospital of Virginia Beach or Eastern Shore (Episcopal) Chapel.
