The Norfolk Virginian, October 17, 1896


The funeral of the late William J. Hudgins took place at 11 a.m. yesterday from 
the Queen Street M.E. Church, Rev. J.W. Moore, the pastor officiating. During 
the service “Shall We Meet Beyond the River” was sung by Mrs. Cora Pullen. The 
floral tributes were both handsome and profuse. After the service the remains 
were interred in Elmwood Cemetery, the pall-bearers being Messrs. W.W. Vicar, 
S.N. Brickhouse, James E. Martin, Wright C. Cruett, W.D. Allard and Martin 
Holland.
