Born in Willow, Ark., the son of Wilbern Hudson and Kathryn Watson Catton, he moved to Virginia Beach in 1967 after graduating from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for 36 years in service to the Department of the Navy in Norfolk. He and his wife Scila were married in 1969 at Our Lady of Victory Chapel, U.S. Naval Station, Norfolk. He leaves his wife of 40 years, Scila Gabriella (Linsley) Hudson; his daughters, Robynn Schamel and Olivia Gossin; his sons, Mark and Brian Hudson; his brother, James Hudson; 21 grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews; and many close friends. Known by many as "Old Sweet Hud," Mr. Hudson was admired for his kind and gentle nature, his steadfast devotion to his family, and his loyalty to his friends. A Rosary service will be held tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Benedict's Chapel, 521 McCosh Drive, Chesapeake on Tuesday, Feb. 23. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Norfolk.
