The Virginian Pilot Friday March 16, 1984
Anna Elizabeth Akers Hughes, 69, of 5631 Tidewater Drive, Apartment 51, died 
Thursday in a hospital.
Mrs. Hughes was a member of Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.
Survivors include her husband, George Edward Hughes Sr.; her parents, 
Indiana Morris Akers and Arthur R. Akers Sr. of Norfolk; two daughters, 
Linda L. Payton and Jo Anne Elliott, both of Norfolk; two sons, George 
Edward Hughes Jr. of Virginia Beach and Arthur S. Hughes of Toms River, 
N.J.; two brothers, A.R. (Sonny) Akers Jr. of Norfolk and Herbert W. Akers 
of Chesapeake, 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Smith and Williams 
Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Frederick W. Carroll.  Burial will 
be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. today and at the 
residence.
