Norfolk Ledger-Dispatch March 27, 1944
Mrs. Katherine Gardner Hughes. Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes, wife of Charles 
S. Hughes, Sr., who died Saturday morning at New York, will be held at the chapel 
of the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Tuesday at 12 o'clock noon, with the Rev. 
Taylor Willis, D.D., rector of Christ and St. Luke's Church, of which Mrs. Hughes 
was a member, and the Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street 
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
