Virginian-Pilot May 11, 1987
NORFOLK — George Edward Hughes, 76, of the 100 block of Suburban Parkway, a 
retired drug clerk, died May 10, 1987, in a hospital.
Mr. Hughes, a New York City native, retired from Fairmount Pharmacy. He was a 
member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Audrey C. Hughes; two sons, George E. Hughes Jr. of 
Virginia Beach and Arthur S. Hughes of Toms River, N.J.; a sister, Frances Lee 
of Jacksonville, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Cemetery 
by the Rev. J. Robert Parvin. The family will be at Smith and Williams Funeral 
Home today from 7 to 8 p.m.
