FLOYD HUGHES. Mrs. Virginia Brock Hughes, wife of Floyd Hughes of this city, died yesterday morning at St. Luke's hospital, Richmond. Mrs. Hughes, who was one of the most popular Norfolk matrons, was summering at White Sulphur Springs when she became ill. She was taken to Richmond, where she was operated on by Dr. Stuart McGuire. Mrs. Hughes was a native of Richmond and was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. C. W. P. Brock, of that city. She had resided in Norfolk about 25 years. She was a member of Christ Episcopal church and was affiliated with a number of prominent organizations, among them being the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Miss Virginia Floyd Hughes; a son, Charles Brock Hughes, and a grandson, Charles Brock Hughes, Jr. The body will arrive in Norfolk this morning over the Norfolk & Western railroad and the funeral will take place this afternoon at 12:30 o'clock at Christ Episcopal church, Rt. Rev. B. D. Tucker, D.D., bishop of the P.E. Diocese of southern Virginia, and Rev. E. W. Hickel, of Christ church, officiating.
