VIRGINIA BEACH - Jack W. Hughes, 80, of the 1000 block of Charity Drive, died Oct. 
13, 2004, in his home.

Mr. Hughes was a lifelong resident of Hampton Roads. He was born March 28, 1924, 
the son of the late John R. and Mary Brown Hughes.  He retired in 1981 from 
Texaco.

Mr. Hughes was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.  Survivors 
include his wife of 23 years, Catherine Pestorius Hughes; a sister, Jean H. Clark 
of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery in Norfolk by Father Mario Fulgenzi.  In lieu of flowers, memorial 
donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Fire and Rescue or to Comfort Care 
Hospice.  H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling 
arrangements.
