Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark December 20, 1927

Mrs, Catherine Pinner Hughes, aged 77, died at the home of her niece, Mrs. 
Thomas B. Kelley, 906 Raleigh Avenue, yesterday morning at 8:45 o'clock. She was 
the widow of Walter Hughes and the daughter of the late John and Marriba Pinner, 
a native of Suffolk, but a resident of Norfolk for more than 50 years. Mrs. 
Hughes is survived by a son, Zack Murden; two grandchildren, and the following 
nieces and nephews in addition to Mrs. Kelley, Fred J. Gray and Eugene F. Gray, 
of Norfolk; Mrs. Maybelle Luter, John R. Pinner and Mrs. Della Gardner, of 
Suffolk.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home of E. Lee Cox and 
Brother, 631 Westover Avenue, this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. O.M. 
Blackwell, pastor of LeKies Memorial Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial 
will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
