She had been in failing health for three years. Born in Norfolk, December 12, 1869, she was a daughter of Michael and Mrs. Bridget Mary Hoban Magee. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Convent at Emmittsburg and, before her marriage to James Hughes, studied voice in New York. Her husband died many years ago. She succeeded E. J. Doran as choir director and organist at St. Mary’s Church. It was recalled that many visitors came to the church from out of town to hear her sing. She attended the Golden Jubilee of St. Joseph’s Convent in 1938. Surviving is one brother, Dr. D'Arcy Magee, of Blandensburg. Rosary services will be conducted today at 7:30 p.m. at the H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. The body will be taken from the funeral apartments to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for funeral services tomorrow at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
